Introduction:

An enthusiastic guide with a passion for the Liverpool City Region. I love to show visitors what a great mix of culture, history and leisure Liverpool has to offer. Choosing a guide who can share interesting facts and details with you helps you to quickly get a connection with the city and find out what you want to explore in more detail.

My background is in Museums and Galleries, working for various cultural institutions in Liverpool such as the Walker Art Gallery, Museum of Liverpool and Liverpool Biennial.

I live in the city centre and enjoy being in the heart of city life.

I am particularly interested in Liverpool Waterfront and City Centre, our two Cathedrals, Museums and Galleries, The Beatles, Art and Public Art, City Walking Tours, Hope Street area, Port Sunlight, Regeneration, and Historic buildings.

I can offer guided Coach tours, walking tours and site visits and talks. An Introduction to Liverpool and its (many) highlights is our most popular tour but with notice I am happy to arrange and research specific tours and trips to your requests if time allows. Please don't hesitate to give me a call to discuss your requirements.

Upon becoming a Mum I dreamed up Buggy Tours for new parents and lead short, accessible tours for parents and carers with babies in their buggies and strollers who join for the ride. These can be arranged for groups privately.

I can offer talks for societies and interest groups which can be done in person or over zoom. I have a pair of talks detailing the story of each of our wonderful Cathedrals and how they came to be. Each c50mins in length

Special Interests:

Art/Paintings & Sculpture

Home to Liverpool Biennial, Britian's only art Biennial the city comes alive with wonderful public art and contemporary exhibitions every two years. Liverpool Biennial are also behind the commissioning of some of England's most unique permanent works of public art such as Antony Gormley's "Another Place" in Crosby, and Jaume Plensa's "Dream" in St Helens. I would be delighted to show these to you and explain how they came to be. The Baltic triangle in Liverpool is home to a thriving and cool street art scene which is fun to explore and see evolve.

Galleries

The region also has a host of fantastic free Galleries and Museums such as the Walker Art Gallery, known as the National Gallery of the North. I worked here on the John Moores Painting Prize in 2010 and 2012, Tate Liverpool where I was an Information Assistant from 2008-2014 and Lady Lever Art Gallery, a real gem in Port Sunlight village whose Pre-Raphaelite collection is extraordinary

Churches & Cathedrals

Liverpool is home to TWO fantastic cathedrals that cannot be missed. They are very distinctive and full of hidden gems that a guide can bring to life for you. The cathedrals are in the Georgian Quarter of the city and can easily be combined with Hope Street, winner of 'The Great Street Award' in the 2013 Urbanism Awards

Food & Drink

There are many excellent eateries to enjoy and you can savour 'Scouse', a local stew, locally grown asparagus, fabulous Liverpool Gin and locally brewed ales and of course Fish and Chips. We also have some thriving street food markets.

Walking Tours

Liverpool itself is a compact city, perfect for exploring on foot. I enjoy leading walking tours of the iconic Albert Dock and waterfront, part of the UNESCO inscribed world heritage site. Another favourite is a walking tour of Hope Street and Ropewalks in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter. Liverpool City Region is around 60% rural so if treading the sidewalk is not your thing we can also explore the green parks, rural Wirral Peninsula.

Shopping

Liverpool has become a premier shopping destination since the opening of 'Liverpool One', home to large department stores such as Debenhams and John Lewis and also popular brands such as Nike, Apple, Cath Kidston, Harvey Nicholls and Hollister

History & Prehistory

Discover Liverpool's rich history dating back to a small fishing village founded in 1207 through its ascent to 2nd city of the British Empire and its journey to the modern cosmopolitan city it is today. Let me help you explore the architecture, the wealth, the heroes, horrors, sights and sounds and what makes this city tick
