Introduction:

Hello, my name is Dr Aaron Hunter and I am a prize-winning qualified London Blue Badge Guide, with a passion for this city and the UK and I would love to show you the treasures and places that Great Britain has to offer. I come from a London family and know every museum, gallery and the hidden corner of this great global city and I hope to help you get the most out of your visit. My tours have been described as “informative and engaging” and I am “humorous and passionate” about history, architecture and art as well as science which is my speciality.

I am a professional scientist, researcher, editor, and lecturer. As a palaeontologist, I am an expert on fossils, prehistoric life including dinosaurs, and the natural world. I can offer specialist tours in these areas, especially the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Charles Darwin's Down House, scientific London, and urban geology and I am happy to work with families and school groups.

As well as walking tours around London, I provide tours of numerous classic London sites. This includes Westminster Abbey, our coronation church and the burial place of English Kings and Queens, poets, writers, musicians and scientists. St Paul’s Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece built after the Great Fire of London and the final resting place of Wellington and Nelson. The Tower of London with its dramatic Norman, medieval and Tudor history, the Crown Jewels, and its famous inhabitants the Ravens and Beefeaters.

I can also show you Royal London including Buckingham Palace, the Changing of the Guard and the Royal Mews with their spectacular carriages. You could discover the lost Palace of Whitehall with its Banqueting House, Queen Anne’s (The Favourite) Kensington Palace or the home of King Henry VIII and his six wives at Hampton Court Palace. Your could explore Henry's childhood home at Eltham Palace which is also an Art Deco gem.

I can take you on a journey through world cultures at the British Museum, showing you the antiquities of Ancient Egypt, Assyria, Greece, Rome and Britain. Treasures we will see include the Head of Ramesses II and Egyptian mummies, the Lamassu and Lion Reliefs, Lord Elgin’s Parthenon Marbles, the Portland Vase and Mildenhall Treasure, the Sutton Hoo Treasure, the Lewis Chess Pieces and the Bronze Age Mold Cape.

I could take you on a river cruise to Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage site, the home of time, where you can discover the Royal Observatory with John Harrison’s clocks and cross the Meridian Line. You can see Elizabeth I’s Armada Portrait at the Queen’s House, the very uniform that Nelson wore at the Battle of Trafalgar at the National Maritime Museum, Sir James Thornhill’s newly restored Painted Ceiling in the Old Naval College and the famous tea clipper the Cutty Sark.

I am very much an art lover and can give you a tour through Western Art at the National Gallery from the Wilton Diptych, to Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Holbein, Van Dyke, Caravaggio, Gainsborough, Constable, Turner, Monet and van Gogh. Or take in a journey of British history through art at the National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain. If you like modern and contemporary art I can also take you to Tate Modern now Britain’s most visited gallery.

If you are keen to venture out of London, I have lived in the west of England for over 3 years and lead regular walking tours around the amazing UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath, can take you to Lacock, Salisbury, Stonehenge, the Cotswolds and Oxford and further north to Shakespeare’s home town of Stratford-upon-Avon and I am happy to show you these wonderful regions of England. Originally from Kent, I am also happy to lead tours to my home county and the cities of Canterbury and Rochester. I have extensive experience leading field trips on the geology and beautiful landscapes of Great Britain & Ireland.

Here are a few comments from some of my tours:
